Hospitality Bloc Meeting Point for Food in Our Hands // 26th April
On April 26th 2025, we’ll be joining farmers, growers, food system workers, activists and everyone who has a stake in the UK’s food system (yes – that includes you!) to march in London under the banner ‘Food In Our Hands’.
Now is the time for us to come together and build a broad and progressive coalition across the UK’s food, farming and land working sectors, and present our vision for a more just and equitable future.
We’ll be taking action with @landworkersall allies from across the movement, and we need you to be a part of it!
Why are we marching?
🍞 To demand a legally enshrined Right to Food for all
🐝 To demand a bigger budget for nature-friendly farming which can support a transition to agroecology in all four UK nations
✊To build a unified antifascist, antiracist progressive front within the farming sector, focussed on dignified lives and livelihoods for all
🌻 To strengthen connections with other grassroots resistance movements and build consensus for food sovereignty in the UK
Hospitality Bloc
Hearth is proud to be hosting a meeting point for the hospitality bloc for attending the LWA’s march on Sat 26th April.
We will meet at Hearth at 10am on Saturday 26th April for a free shared breakfast and filter coffee before making our way down to Vauxhall Pleasure Gardens together to join in the larger meeting point.
Ideal for meeting up with other hospitality workers in a calm and open environment before going into a larger crowd and march.
What to Wear
We’re encouraging everyone to come in their work clothes (aprons, chef whites, etc) to create a visual impact that represents the hospitality sector and food production sector.
What to Bring
Water and snacks/lunch for the march
Emergency raincoat…
Placards and signs (come to our placard making the evening before!)
Props that represents your job: Rolling pin, tongs, pots and spatulas to bang on, pan lids, dried wheat, garland of garlic!
Positive vibes for what will hopefully be a fun day out!
What not to Bring:
Please do not bring anything as a prop that could be viewed as a weapon by the polices: knives, pitchforks, skewers…
This is a peaceful protest and we want to keep it that way.
Booking isn’t essential, it’s just to give us a vague idea of numbers for the day and for breakfast!
If you can’t join us for a pre-march breakfast, we’ll be in Vauxhall Pleasure Gardens at 12pm for workshops and speeches before we begin the march at 2pm. Come find us and join, hopefully we’ll be easily recognised by the sea of chef jackets!
